Bitter Place
Bitter Place is a series of site specific installations that uses a shoe form as a metaphor for enforced movement. installation. For thousands of years families and communities have walked away from their homes, fleeing from war zones, or the deadly feuding of civil war. Russian emigrants walked across continents to escape the pogroms with much the same mixture of fatalism and determination that drove asylum seekers attempting to reach Britain by walking through the Channel Tunnel. Bitter Place seeks to focus attention on those who are forced to flee their homes in a bid for safety.
